It’s the 34th annual MTV Video Music Awards, a.k.a. Miley Cyrus’s favourite night of the year—and ours too. We’re counting down the minutes ’til all of music’s best, brightest and buzziest stars get together to celebrate this year’s freshest music videos with moonman-shaped trophies, but—who are we kidding—we’re already drooling over all the jaw-dropping red carpet fashion.
Just hours before the main night, Lil Yachty, Charlamagne Tha God, MTV’s Terrence J and Gaby Wilson co-hosted a pre-show with performances by Khalid, Bleachers and Cardi B. To get everyone pumped, we heard Khalid’s bangers “Location” and “Young Dumb & Broke,” super catchy “Don’t Take the Money” from Bleachers and Cardi B’s No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs, “Bodak Yellow.”
Tonight, with Katy Perry hosting, we’ll see even more performances by Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award Winner Pink, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran, our #MCM Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, The Weeknd, Lorde, Khalid, Cardi B, Fifth Harmony and more. (Is it just us, or are Canadians absolutely dominating the scene rn?!) Plus, Kesha will be presenting, along with DJ Khaled, Paris Jackson, Hailey Baldwin, Girls Trip’s Tiffany Haddish, Olivia Munn, our personal girl crush Yara Shahidi and our fave Stranger Things tween Millie Bobby Brown.
